That connection was never broken

I just finished Every Breath and it was almost my story. My first year in college I met “the one”. We planned to marry but life interrupted that plan and he moved on. I married another and had two children. After a tumultuous 13 years we divorced. I did remarry and had another child but that husband was unfaithful and we divorced. I remained single. I did, however, never get over the one. About 15 years ago I googled and found him! He too had divorced but the irony of it all was the week before I found him, he had passed away. I’ve always felt that connection was never broken.
